The Altar Guild offers a ministry to Christ and our Parish of beautification to the Sancturary, Altar and Nave through seasonal flowers and other decor.
Service at the Altar is a great act of leadership, humility and holiness and often aids one in discernment of vocation to religious or married life. Equally, service at the Altar is an act of worship to the Holy Trinity. Altar servers of communicant age and up are needed to assist at the weekend Mass.
Altar servers are also needed for the daily Mass. Recognizing the fact that when school is in session, most will be unable to serve daily Mass, Fr. Tebalt is seeking homeschooling families to assist. Training for the Altar is necessary and will be announced periodically.
The Ministry of Bereavment seeks to serve families in grief due to the loss of a loved one. This is most often done through sending cards and providing meals to the families. Please contact Judy Emerine for more details.
Volunteers called "Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion" assist the parish Priest in the distribution of Holy Communion at the weekend Masses during the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Also, they have the ministry of guarding and taking the Consecrated Body of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist to those unable to attend Mass due to illness or incarceration. These positions are appointed by Fr. Tebalt.
Lectors have the honor and privilege of sharing in the ministry of the Word. They volunteer to read the lessons from the lectionary at the weekend and daily Masses during the Liturgy of the Word. These positions are appointed by Fr. Tebalt.
Our Hospitality Ministers volunteer during the weekend Masses to assist visitors and parishioners in locating a seat; they serve as Greeters in the narthex and also serve in taking up the collection at the Offertory.
The primary means of music ministry in our parish is through the Ministry of the Choir and musical accompaniment. The choir leads the congregation in singing in liturgical responses during the Mass. The choir also performs special music during particular seasons of the church year such as advent lessons and carols. If you have any questions or are interested, use the contact form on the left or contact Rodney Cleveland.
Our Parish is blessed with a group of volunteers who visit the incarcerated offering prayer and Bible studies at both the Greenwood County Detention Center and the Leith Women's Correctional Facility. Further, they often provide Holy Communion and faith formation materials for the inmates. For more information, please contact Libby Bartley.
Our Lady of Lourdes volunteers on Tuesdays to help at the local Greenwood Soup Kitchen that is in the cafeteria of the Greater Greenwood United Ministries building on Phoenix Ave., behind Harley Funeral Home.
