Being a disciple of Jesus is often very difficult when faced with various challenges in this life.  In his first letter to the Corinthians St. Paul compares discipleship to running a race to heaven.  Like any other race, it requires training, discipline and sacrifice.  We want to be with Christ and our larger  eternal family one day, but being weak and selfish, we need help.

Out of God's great love for us, He gave us His family the Church and through this our Mother, He gave us His own life and strength in the sacraments.  Sacraments are gifts to strengthen us for the journey through this life to heaven.
