Those who may be in danger of death should receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick (aka "Extreme Unction" or "Last Rites") promptly, by contacting the parish or after the weekend Masses. Children in CCD
The Diocese of Charleston requires two years of religious education/ catechesis up to the eighth grade. For unique situations, please contact Dr. Joseph Johnson, Director of Christian Formation (EMAIL). A copy of baptism certificate should be provided if he/she was not baptized at OLOL.
Expected to memorize prayers, the Ten Commandments and sacraments.
Every student is to provide the CCD instructor with a summary of the particular Saint they seek to emulate.
Students are expected to attend every class for the two year period (7-8 grades).
Examination of conscience and go to confession with his/her class well before the day of Confirmation.
Each child must have a sponsor who is a Catholic in good standing with the Church, who is at least 16 years of age and who is not the child’s parent.
Adults in RCIA

Have completed the required course for inquiry. It may be possible depending on the circumstances and experience of the individual to shorten the time of preparation.

Holy Communion may be received at home, in a nursing home, or in the hospital. If you find yourself unable to attend Mass and want to receive Communion, either you or an immediate family member may call the office to make the necessary arrangements.

Younger than age 7: be enrolled in the First Communion and First Confession classes during the CCD year.
Older than 7: Be enrolled in CCD and attend the required preparation classes taught by Peggy Ficklin.
